I'm one of the many silent readers of your short (but sweet) blog - up until now at least. Your tremendous news requires at least a comment - and I'm sorry I didn't make it until now! (Apparently I need to sign up for notification list that you've updated your blog!! I stopped checking because you're so sporadic. I guess it just keeps us guessing. Haha.)

Anyway.... "CONGRATULATIONS!!". I am very confident that this will open great doors for you and I hope that you're able to inspire others as you have inspired me with just a brief meeting.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes. Keep writing, it'll be a great story to follow :)

David, the 7th paragraph of your blog says everything about you. They should award you an honorary doctorate now. By the way, you never failed anything in your life; you were just trying to find the right path. Many never find their way at all.

Great news, Dave. Congratulations! When you have research questions that are rooted in your personal experiences, the PhD journey can be tremendously satisfying. The stuff you will learn about people through their stories will amaze you. Enjoy!!!

I was born in Ontario with the name David Chafe in 1960, (father from Petty Harbor), but adopted out into an American family, where I have been ever since. I just wanted to check out my Newfy brethren.

I was just listening to a soloist doing How Great Thou Art. Your latest blog suggests you
may be searching for a new path. How about you singing and playing that wonderful hymn at
Cochrane Saturday night. It would be the highlight of the evening. When the applause finally stops you may have found a new path. Check with Joan and your friend Jane; I'm sure they'll agree.

David, God has truly blessed you with such rich musical gifts that lift the weary and comfort the brokenhearted. My heart has lept for joy many a time. Continue to proclaim His praises and give Him all the glory. Shalom, Ruth Burke

Thank you for accompanying Patrick at his recital in Springdale this evening. I thoroughly enjoyed every piece. You did a great job on your piano solo, How Great Thou art! All the best with your future plans!
